Here's a new twist on the dozens and dozens of Apple hardware rumors that have come our way: while the chatter lately has seemed to point to models like the iPad mini 2 arriving sooner rather than later, some new rumors about Apple's timetable for this next wave of devices has the company releasing them quite a bit farther out, with new iPad models not launching until the fall.
According to what iLounge calls a "trusted source", instead of a new iPads this spring, Apple could instead be planning to deliver both the iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 in October. The next-gen mini is supposedly being developed as Apple's model J85, while the new iPad is J72. Beyond that, this source doesn't have anything new to add about just what changes are in store for the iPad mini, and reinforces what we've already heard about the mini 2 moving to a higher resolution display.
Separately, the site reports having had the opportunity to examine a model that may just be of the iPad 5, and describes some barely-there bezels and a super-thin construction, ultimately resembling a larger iPad mini.
As for the iPhone 5S, the handset Apple is developing as its models N51 and N53, it could be getting here much sooner than the tablets, with a July launch possible. That's a bit more in line with expectations, as we've already been talking about it arriving this summer. Changes could include a larger flash as well as a thirteen-megapixel Sony camera sensor.
That oddball "iPhone Math" with its extra-large screen also gets a mention, may end up being called the iPhone Plus, and is reportedly very much a prototype design that Apple may not even be seriously considering bringing to market.
