Yes we know, no matter how much praise Apple’s processors receive, it’s still something hard to believe. Surely Apple beat everyone to the 64-bit processor punch, but we wonder just how useful that is with the meager amount of RAM found in most of its products. Still, using iPhones proves that Apple’s processors are top notch, and benchmarks continue to agree, even when compared to 2016 offerings.

Samsung has pretty much unveiled its new Exynos 8990, and so has Qualcomm with its Snapdragon 820. Both of these processors join the 2016 line-up of power that’s also owned by Huawei’s Kirin 950, and MediaTek’s Helio X20. You’d think that any of these would reign supreme in the benchmark land, but as it turns out, Apple’s A9 does. Benchmarks are hard to trust, and that’s more of a fact with Geekbench 3, but leakster “i Ice Universe” reportedly had a chance to test all these together, and the Apple A9 won in single-thread challenge. Yes, given Apple’s decision to keep its processor a dual-core chip, obviously that was to be expected, but we do know that multi-core results won’t be the same.

Leaks are leaks though, and we’ll just have to wait for the first batch of products running these competing processors to truly be able to test things in a fair way.
