The A12 Bionic chip is the first Apple chip built on the 7nm process. The technology will remain the same for the 2019 line-up as well. According to a recent report, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will be the exclusive, sole manufacturer of the Apple A13 chip this year.

Production for the Apple A13 chip will start in the second quarter, claims the report. It is also rumored that there will be an “enhanced version with EUV”. Apple has been historically designing its own chips, and, in 2019, the A13 Bionic will have to compete with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, HiSilicon Kirin 980, Samsung Exynos 9820, and their respective successors.

TSMC is focused on 7nm chip production, and the company’s CEO, CC Wei, said that this year 25 percent of the company’s revenue will likely be generated by it.
