Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi continues investigating one of its Mi 4i devices after it exploded right in its owner’s hands in India. The company has given a replacement device to that customer, but the damage control has only just begun as another reported explosion has rocked a Xiaomi device.

One Weibo user relayed a customer’s pictures of their Mi 5 with its back cover melted off and its battery post-mortem. The rest of the device appears to be fine, but we don’t have any idea what happened to it nor what conditions the explosion took place. The Weibo user only described the incident as “strange.”

Whatever the case, two explosions in a week is not a good record to be keeping up and causes have not been found yet.
