Andy Rubin, VP of Engineering at Google, has just made a tweet — his second ever with first one being the definition of open in response to Steve Jobs — in which he claims Android has passed the barrier of 300,000 daily activations.

To further improve the statement’s impact, Dan Morrill, Android Open-Source & Compatibility Program Manager, retweeted Andy Rubin’s words shortly after saying that they are indeed true as he (Morrill) is checking the numbers on a daily basis. Google is in a continuous growing trend as far as Android activations are concerned. There were daily 100,000 in May, 160,000 per day in June, 200,000 in August and today they’ve passed 300,000 according to the two Google executives. While it’s certainly an impressive growing trend, it can’t continue forever but it’s hard to tell which numbers it will top on. Gingerbread will most definitely shed some light on this.
