If Google wants to be the a media medium to be reckoned with, it’s going to need more support. From Play to Android TV and Chromecast, the Google label might be high-profile for the under 35s and high-IQ for those uninformed and uninterested. But if you can build it into ordinary products, then they may just as well come.

Google’s announced that Sony, Sharp and Philips are now kicking out Android TVs with Arcelik, Vestel, RCA, Hisense, TCL and Bang & Olufsen television sets to come within the year. Linknet is offering Android TV in Indonesia.

Bang & Olufsen Play, Harman Kardon, Onkyo, Philips, Pioneer and Raumfield will also make Google Cast audio equipment — speakers and soundbars with Chromecast tech inside. Sony and LG, already having made Google Cast products, are making more. Components makers Frontier Silicon and StreamUnlimited will also make parts that make enabling Google Play for speakers easier and cheaper for manufacturers.
