Amazon Discounts Verizon Androids Tipped For Global Roaming

Verizon started-off the week by confirming the upcoming arrival of updates for the Droid 4, RAZR, RAZR Maxx, and Rezound that would allow those phones to roam internationally on GSM/UMTS networks, despite their CDMA pedigree. We’ll be seeing those updates come out sometime this summer (with a good chance that global roaming and Ice Cream Sandwich will arrive simultaneously for at least some of the models), but if just the news of this forthcoming feature has you thinking about picking up one of the models early, Amazon Wireless has some pretty nice deals ready for you.

Subscribers signing on to new two-year contracts will be able to purchase the RAZR Maxx for $150, the Rezound for $50, or the Droid 4 for what’s essentially free. We just saw the Maxx drop to $200, so it’s great to continue to see the price fall. We’ve seen the others discounted before, but considering all three phones sell through Verizon itself for $200 each, these prices represent some pretty steep discounts.

Last that we heard, Ice Cream Sandwich is due to hit the RAZR Maxx as soon as next month, and the Rezound is scheduled to start getting its update in either June or July. The wait might be just a little longer for the Droid 4, but Motorola says it will land before the end of Q3.
