Alltel Wireless Launches LG Axis Android QWERTY Slider

By Anton D. Nagy January 15, 2011, 2:59 am

We can't say we're surprised and neither should you be as we told you three days ago the LG Axis was coming to Alltel Wireless and it looks like we were right on track as the Android QWERTY Slider (with variants like LG Ally on Verizon and LG Apex on US Cellular) has just been launched with Alltel.

Yes, first the bad: it runs Google Android 2.1 Eclair which could be a drawback for many these days when we're talking Froyo and Gingerbread. The 600MHz processor powered smartphone packs a 3.2-inch WVGA display as well as a 3.2-megapixel camera plus WiFi. To make up for the medium to low specs as well as Eclair, the price is rather good as the device will go for $89.99 after a $50 mail in rebate and a two year service agreement. Let us know if any Alltel subscribers fancy a budget slide-out Android QWERTY!
