Google has already a reputation in the smartphone world. Their single-camera Pixels have been great when we’re talking about photography, but they have been found lacking as far as design goes. Now, it seems that things are about to change. Rumors say that we might get more cameras, more features, more screen, and maybe a beautiful design with the upcoming Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL.

Pixel 4 XL

Rumors concerning the Google Pixel 4 have shown up since January, and the first one we found mentions a device that may adopt an all-screen design. Shortly after that, we found out that this new Pixel could also allow active data on both SIM slots according to AOSP, but soon our attention was captured by the possibility of a new Pixel 3 Lite that ended up being something else.

Patents came from lots of sources and showed us the possibility of the Pixel 4 being a modular device, but a month later we started seeing a Pixel 4 XL device with a punch-hole screen, and the fingerprint sensor was missing from the back. That made us believe that we could get an in-display fingerprint scanner on this model.

In April we saw the Pixel 4 being mentioned in AOSP, and shortly after that, we saw the code-names for these devices. Coral would be the regular version, while Flame would be the beefed-up variant.

Google also started taking action in the design department, since they realized that they needed to improve the looks of their phones, in order to sell. There were many teams of designers hired to do this, but the first renders we saw of the Pixel 4 devices were similar to other phones that were or are coming soon. More leaks started showing up that let us see a phone with lots of bezels, and a notch instead of a hole-punch screen.

June gave us all great news, as triple cameras were supposed to arrive in the Pixel 4 and we also got a possible launch date. There was also a possible sighting in the wild that confirmed the square camera hump. Soon after that, we also received possible dimensions and even colors.

Pixel 4 render

July has revealed that the next generation of Pixel phones will also include a telephoto lens, that translates to more epic shots. The last information we received from these devices mentions minor upgrades for the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, groundbreaking new technology, and yes, the device was seen in public again.

Hopefully, we will get more information soon, and we will keep you posted.
