Alcatel OT-980 Budget Android October Launch for UK

The Palm Pre twin as we called it back in February is coming from Alcatel, known to be a producer of budget devices and the One Touch 980 is no different, following a line of design in which the Blackberry Torch appeared too, recently.

The 2.8 inch QVGA device will be running Android 2.1 on a 600MHz CPU and besides the dual input methods used (touch screen and hardware QWERTY) and features like Wi-Fi, HSPA, E-Compass, Multi IM client and MP3 player it will sport a 2MP camera. Rumored to become Alcatel’s flagship device, it will be launched in the UK in October with a price tag of £99.95 (around $155) with a Pay as you Go Contract, which is another example of a budget solution besides Huawei’s Ideos – running Android 2.2.
