When the original Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL variant debuted on T-Mobile and MetroPCS last fall, the affordable 5.5-inch Android understandably went unnoticed by most smartphone consumers, as it simply faced too much direct opposition, including from higher-profile brands, to stand out from the pack.

But the Windows 10 Mobile remake is a whole different story, stealing the spotlight before it even went official, then undergoing the hands-on treatment at CES 2016 by popular demand. As rumored a couple of days back, the rehashed device is finally up for grabs on T-Mobile, for the same exact price as its Google-powered model.

That’s $140, in case you’re wondering, which you can pay in whole upfront or choose to split into 24 equal monthly installments of $5.84. Either way, the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL with Windows 10 sounds like a pretty good deal, at least compared to similar products running the same OS.

The Microsoft Lumia 550, for instance, also costs $140 (granted, in a fully unlocked configuration), and only features a 4.7-inch display, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage space, 5MP rear-facing camera, and 2,100 mAh battery.

Besides the obvious size upgrade, the “new” Fierce XL delivers an extra gig of memory too, twice the local digital hoarding room, 8 megapixel photography prowess, and 2,500 mAh juice. Of course, the larger cell is needed to power a larger 720p screen, so it may not be such an asset in real life, but the rest of the benefits are hard to argue against.
