When you’re looking to give your Android phone or tablet a little custom flare while stopping short of a full ROM replacement, it’s hard to go wrong with a new launcher. There are tons of options out there, and we’ve gone over some of our favorites with you. One of those is Action Launcher, and today we get word of a new update for the software on its way out, delivering a bevy of new features, bugfixes, and general improvements.

One of the key new features in this release is support for an open live wallpaper API, including compatibility with Quicktheme color matching. Shortcuts and gestures get an expanded set of new options, including fully configurable actions – anything from starting an app to toggling system settings. There’s better compatibility with Android Lollipop, including efforts to match design changes in the latest Android 5.1 release, improved gesture detection, and smarter search behavior. And if all this good new stuff has you feeling generous, donating to support the project is easier than ever before.

This is just scratching the surface of what you’ll find in this new Action Launcher 3.3 release, so check out the video below for some of the finer points.
