With only two days to go until Microsoft’s mysterious “Imagine what you’ll do” New York City Windows 10 event, the T-Mobile-bound, W10M-powered Alcatel Idol 4S has finally leaked in full, and the Acer Liquid Jade Primo scores you a massive discount all of a sudden through Redmond’s US e-store.
Coincidence? Probably not, and maybe, just maybe, the Windows 10 Mobile swan song hasn’t found its fat lady performer yet. Granted, one swallow does not a summer make, so we’ll also need to hear official dismissal of 2018 Surface Phone delay rumors to believe in the platform’s future.
In the short term, the “latest-gen” Idol 4S and HP Elite x3, as well as the aging but at least affordable Lumia 950, 950 XL and Liquid Jade Primo, will have to do for Continuum believers. The 5.5-inch Acer handheld, first unveiled more than a year ago and only brought to the US this July, costs a reasonable $450 instead of an outlandish $650 starting today.
Still too expensive? Well, you’re not just getting the Snapdragon 808, 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM and 1080p-sporting phone for your four and a half Benjamins, but also a display dock, keyboard and mouse. In short, everything you need for a “complete PC feel”, as you can seamlessly “project your phone to any screen.” Of course, you’ll have to separately buy said monitor, though this still feels like a relatively decent deal.
