While generally not as glamorous and jam-packed with exciting mobile hardware announcements as the year-opening CES or MWC events, the IFA (Internationale Funkausstellung) Berlin consumer electronics trade show always makes its share of pre-holiday headlines.

This year’s German expo will probably be no exception, despite Samsung reportedly planning once again to hold an Unpacked conference for the introduction of the latest Galaxy Note hero a few weeks before the IFA’s official start.

You can still count on the Gear S3 debuting in the capital of the most populous EU member state sometime between September 2 and 7 or just ahead of the former date, with Huawei set to take the wraps off a Mate S and/or Mate 8 sequel on September 1, and now Acer formally confirming its own “exciting holiday season lineup” release for August 31.

What might we see unveiled under the “[email protected]” banner? Hard to say for sure, as no related rumors have made the rounds lately, but based on past experiences, a number of new Liquid-series phones are definitely in the cards. Perhaps a Jade Primo follow-up, running Android and/or Windows. And a Predator 8 successor, if the gaming tablet is deemed worthy of one. Lastly, that “powerful” albeit still mysterious StarVR headset.
