Acer announces the affordable Iconia Tab 8 W

Microsoft and its partners are really making a compelling case for the reasons why you shouldn’t buy a tablet running a mobile operating system. Just a few months ago we saw some very affordable Dell Venue tablets running a full version of Windows 8 and with price tags that even make the iPad mini look expensive, but this wasn’t the end of it. As IFA 2014 continues to wow us with more products for this fall, Acer has just raised its hand with another hot Windows tablet.

Acer has just announced the Iconia Tab 8 W, and just before you dismiss it as another Windows tablet to look at, there are actually a ton of compelling things being announced in this product. Spec wise we’re talking about a full Windows 8.1 tablet sporting an 8-inch 1280×800 HD IPS display. Its internals include an Intel AtomTM Z3735G quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage via microSD cards, dual cameras, stereo speakers and one year of Office 365 access.

If that’s not enough, the $149.99 price tag will definitely do it. Stay tuned as we get you some hands-on coverage of this tablet, and more from IFA 2014.
