Android 4.2.2 was running on the LG G2 out of the box with the occasion of our review but if you dream of having Android 4.4 KitKat on the LG flagship, you’ll have to wait a little bit more, at least according to MobileSyrup, who spoke to LG Canada’s Brand Communications Lead, Court Elliot.

According to Elliot, late Q1 2014 is the timeframe for the refresh. That translates to late March, which is definitely later than what other OEMs, like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and even Sony are promising.

Elliot said that LG Canada will offer the update to carriers at the same time, so the roll-out process might be further pushed back. It is not clear whether this is referring only to Canadian G2 phones, or it is a global LG policy; it is also not sure when other LG phones will get (if) their own Android 4.4 KitKat updates.
