As we prepare for the launch of the LG G3, we may as well take a look back at the aftermath of the G2 launch. Spurred by great sales of the device, and possibly the same for the LG G Pad 8.3, the manufacturer has risen to the title of #3 phone manufacturer for Q1 2014.

The obvious reason for this is the success of the G2 flagship smartphone from late last year. Though considered an underdog competitor last year, this year they have risen to the big leagues.

The top two spots are still dominated by Apple and Samsung, as they are still ahead by quite a margin. This doesn’t mean LG’s sales from the year weren’t commendable though — $3.18 billion in mobile phone sales is no laughing matter.

This marks the first time a South Korean company has taken the spot, and we’re assuming this is because Samsung jumped right over it.
