I got some interesting news today. My Dell Axim x50v WM 5.0 Upgrade CD shipped yesterday, 30-Oct-05. It should be here by the end of the week. My x50v will have WM 5.0 on it by this time next week.
I also got word from Mad Monkey Boy that my K-JAM should also be here by the end of the week. I’m going to have WM 5.0 devices in spades.
On an interesting note, I will likely leave my PDA2k (HTC Blue Angel) on WM2003SE. That device is functioning well; and a new 2003SE ROM has made itself available at XDA Developers for the Blue Angel. Depending on how that ROM is [...]

Software producer Omnytex just reduced three of their games to free! One of them is actually a PPC Mag finalist in it’s category. Looks pretty good…Anyways, just a heads up to go over and d/l FREE software…and that scary lookin’ screenie, is of “K & G Arcade”, one of the freebies.

Wow. Something is going on over at i-mate. The K-JAM is nearly nowhere to be found. Everyone and their brother, including Mad Monkey Boy’s Gadgets is out of stock and showing the device as back ordered. Qtek 9100’s, everyone is lousy with those. They are much easier to get, so it can’t be an issue with the HTC Wizard. The device is just fine.
My guess is that i-mate is having issues with their Extended ROM. There have been a number of issues reported with Skype not functioning right on the HTC Wizard, and since i-mate has a deal signed with Skype to [...]
Version 8.1 includes performance and usability improvements and support for square screen devices. The upgrade can be downloaded from the PhatWare web site and is free for users of v8.0 and users of CalliGrapher 7.5 who purchased the product between March 21 and September 1, 2005.
If you’re a CalliGrapher user and are looking forward to the upcoming generation of square-screened WM-powered devices, this news should be of interest to you. We’ve recently reviewed CalliGrapher 8.0.
Speaking of digital media player converged mobile phones, the Samsung i300 is reportedly coming soon. It’s the first Windows Mobile device to include a built in 3Gb hard drive for storing digital media such as music and movies. Arne Hess of the::unwired has posted a review with plenty of pictures. However, he reports that it will only have Windows Mobile 2003 SE, while other reports say that it will have Windows Mobile 5.0. The latter would make more sense since it will have much better support for built in hard drives.
There’s a lot of press today regarding the first iTunes enabled phone and how poorly it’s doing.
As reported by AV info: Motorola’s iTunes music phone may turn out to be a major flop, according to one expert. American Technology Research analyst Albert Lin said that the alarm bells were set ringing when the number of customer returning their new Rokr phones, released by Motorola in conjunction with Apple, greatly exceeded the number of handsets that are usually returned with a new model.
Is this because of bad marketting like the cheif executive of [...]
Over the years the community has bemoaned the lack of respect that Microsoft has given to their Personal Information Management applications on the Windows Mobile platform, especially when compared to the great evolution of Outlook on the desktop. Perhaps this is done on purpose to encourage innovation from third party developers such as WebIS and DeveloperOne. Pocket Informant 2005 was initially released in March 2005, and since July, WebIS has been working laboriously [...]
The HTC Wizard has appeared on Cingular’s website. Rumor has it, the device will be available for purchase in December. The Cingular version of the HTC Wizard is very similar in to the i-mate K-JAM, except with a different body style.

My good friend, Raphael, AKA BeyondTheTech, has started a really cool K-JAM blog. The site is dedicated to the HTC Wizard, reviewed on pocketnow.com by Adam Lein, here.
The device… way cool. The cost… only $3 bucks, if you win it from BTT!
You can win the device at BTT’s site by making a $3USD donation to his children’s education fund. Raphael got hit hard when the Internet bubble burst, and by the 911 terroritst attacks. The IT sector in his neck of the woods is only now, really recovering. I know of his pain. We were hit in a similar way, [...]
I was pleased to hear about San Francisco-based WaterField’s line of bags. Perhaps what caught my attention most was the buckle mechanism—you can request either a seatbelt-style closure or a paragliding style harness. How cool is that? The Cargo Bag line comes in three styles (Small, Medium, and Large). According to WaterField, the Medium is the best size for laptop packers like myself, [...]
