Evidence suggests Samsung’s testing one giant of a tablet

Will jumbo-sized tablets ever catch on, or are users just more comfortable past a certain screen size working with more traditional laptops? We’ve already seen some early attempts at extra-big tablets, like Samsung’s 12.2-inchers, while others like Apple’s long-rumored iPad Pro have yet to surface. Today, though, we’re talking about a tablet that could make even those look positively tiny in comparison, as evidence turns up towards Samsung work on an 18.4-inch beast.

India’s Zauba import database reveals the device, described as a test model with a screen size of 18.4 inches. Despite that size, the price doesn’t sound too, too crazy expensive, with a stated value here that works out to about $500 – though we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out how these import values need not accurately reflect launch prices.


This 18.4-incher isn’t the only tablet Samsung appears to have under development, and the database also reveals a similarly described 9.6-inch device, though that tablet gets a model number assigned to it: SM-T567V. There’s a chance that one could be a Galaxy Tab S2 variant for Verizon LTE, leaving us to wonder what sort of display tech we might find in this 18.4-inch model.

With 18.4 inches being almost certainly too big to be the tablet featured on the new Samsung Unpacked teaser, the odds aren’t feeling too great of this guy showing up at next week’s event. Still, we’ll keep an eye out, all the same.
