Microsoft added a new article to their support knowledge base yesterday, titled: “Troubleshooting problems during software update for Windows Phone 7″. The article walks the user through installing the Zune software on the PC (or Windows Phone 7 Connector if on a Mac), installing the update, and troubleshooting any issues that may occur.
The actual update is pushed through the Zune (or WP7 Connector) software and requires the device to be connected to the PC over USB. There are a number of troubleshooting methods documented in case the user runs into a failure deploying the update, such as USB connection issues. The user is also walked through the process for restoring the system in case he or she wishes to return to the previous version of the operating system.
With the publishing of this article, we are hopeful that the first WP7 update (codenamed No Donuts, or NoDo) is right around the corner. Among other things expected with this update are Copy/Paste support, and CDMA support.
