As of yesterday, May 3, Microsoft is rolling out a security update to Windows Phone 7 and your devices will start notifying you of its existence with a prompt to update upon connecting to the Zune client.
We’ve been expecting a fix regarding Internet Explorer SSL in terms of the security vulnerability as of the Comodo fraudulent certificates. Chris Walsh (think ChevronWP7 Team) has looked deeper into the cumulative update — meaning the release also includes previous updates which you might have missed like Copy and Paste — and thinks that there’s more to the story than the security fix.
According to Walsh, the files that come with this update are different than the files of the NoDo update (build 7390) even though, as a cumulative update, the versions for those files should be the same. In the light of this information, Walsh calls it a “post NoDo update“. There are also other unmanaged changes to the update and Walsh promises to follow-up in a couple of days.
For a specific list on what’s included in the update follow the source link at the bottom. Meanwhile, if you got the update and noticed anything being or behaving differently, drop us a comment and let us know.
