Remember the Windows Home Server App For Windows Phone 7 that Microsoft showed off with the occasion of this year’s CES? Well, Microsoft has recently announced the Release Candidate of the Windows Home Server 2011 Windows Phone 7 Connector.
The add-in allows for Remote Server Management tasks and relay Media Streams for Windows Home Server 2011. You can use Alerts, Users, Devices, Media (Music, Pictures and Videos) with even Live Tile support. In order to have your smartphone connected to the Server you’ll need both an app on the computer and one on your Windows Phone available in the Marketplace.
The Alert Viewer will display important information that the Server would also let you know while the User panorama enables easy user management (viewing an account, enabling or disabling it as well as changing the password). In Devices you can see details about server-joined computers and Mac details, start or stop a backup as well as check out its status.
Music, Video and Picture shares can be seen on your Windows Phone if they are shared in the appropriate folders on the Server and the Live Tile, while pinned to the Start screen, will display important information like network health alerts, percentage of storage use of your main disk as well as server name sending this information.
