Windows Phone 8 Apollo promises to usher-in some of the most substantial changes to platform hardware that we’ve seen since the operating system’s launch. We’ve already heard about some of the devices we might hope to expect, but a flutter of rumors that went out by tweet overnight may give us one of the more comprehensive glimpses into the lineup yet, looking at devices from multiple manufacturers and for multiple carriers.
Nokia’s supposed to be working on an Apollo phone for Verizon that will run a speedy new Snapdragon S4 processor. Though the phone would feature PureView tech, instead of the 808′s massive sensor, it would include the older component from the N8. The only other detail available on this rumored model is the inclusion of a ClearBlack HD display.
That’s not the only Nokia model we’re hearing about today, with one tipped for Sprint as well. Keyboard fans will be glad to hear that it’s supposed to be a landscape QWERTY slider; the hardware keyboard isn’t dead just yet. A four-inch WVGA screen makes it sound more like a mid-range model, but you’re still getting the power of another one of these Snapdragon S4 chips.
Details are a little lighter on rumored models for the other major carriers. Supposedly, Samsung is cooking-up a pair of phones for AT&T, while HTC gets to work with something for T-Mobile. ASUS and Lenovo are also expected to have WP8 launch devices, but there’s not yet any sign of them allying with any carrier for their releases.
