We’ve had a few requests to see how the multilingual keyboard works on the upcoming Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, so here you go! First off, you have to go into the settings area and then “keyboard”. From there, check off each language you want to be supported in the keyboard. After you have more than one, whenever you have the keyboard open there will be a language button at the bottom next to the spacebar. Pressing that will toggle between the other language keyboard layouts and their associated auto-correction and spelling dictionaries. You’ll notice a pretty extensive list of Asian keyboards as well as a few that support handwriting recognition for Asian characters. (Apologies in advance for my poor Chinese writing skills in the below video.)
At this time, we are unsure of whether regional or OEM policies will affect which keyboard layouts and languages will be supported on which devices sold in which countries. Hopefully everybody will be able to switch keyboard languages whenever they want regardless of what country the device was shipped in.
