You must have experienced the Resuming… screen on Windows Phone 7 many times when going back to previous applications or when waking the device up from sleep and unlocking. Windows Phone Hacker found a registry key which, if modified, brings instant resuming.
According to the description, the registry hack disables the dehydration function of the task host. We’re not quite sure what the effects on general device usage are but we expect above normal memory and battery usage. When talking about dehydration, an MSDN article states the following “when many long-running business processes are running at the same time, memory and performance are potential issues. The engine addresses these issues by “dehydrating” and “rehydrating” orchestration instances.”
The upcoming NoDo update will bring faster application loading times as well as hopefully faster resume times.
