Carriers and OEMs are able to customize Windows Phone 7, but not to a great extent, and this is by design. Microsoft wants to keep a consistent experience across all Windows Phone 7 devices, and so there are vast limitation on what can and cannot be changed. Here’s an early example of how carrier Telstra plans to customize the interface. They plan to add their own hub, called the TelstraOne hub, which is essentially a gateway to news and whether in Australia. Hopefully we see more creativity as we get closer to the launch of Windows Phone 7. It’d be nice to see a carrier or OEM do something truly unique to customize the experience.
