Earlier today, we heard that AT&T would start pushing out Mango updates to its customers’ Windows phone 7 handsets beginning next Tuesday, September 27. Though it’s far from confirmed, there’s a chance that Verizon could follow suit and get its update started on the very same day.
This tidbit comes courtesy of an online chat log with a Verizon representative. We’re well-aware how unreliable such sources can be at times, so treat this rumor with the appropriate level of skepticism.
The chat log shows a user in the midst of a Windows Phone 7 discussion with a Verizon rep. The user asks, “do you know if it will be updated for Verizon same day as other carriers (Sept 27, i believe?)”, to which the rep simply responds, “Yes, it will.”
The log makes it look as if the user was in the process of asking about ordering a Trophy, so there’s the very real possibility that an unscrupulous rep was saying anything necessary to close the deal. We’d like to think we’re not that cynical, though, so we’ll give this the benefit of the doubt until we hear anything else from Verizon either confirming or denying the news.
