You can feel the tension building up as we’re just hours away from the Microsoft Windows Phone Mango VIP preview event that will start at 10AM and where, according to Steve Ballmer, we can expect more than 500 new features to be added to the current platform.
Mixed rumors, as one would expect, regarding the event: according to some, there will be new devices announced and according to others it will be just a platform demo. However, according to the latest rumor, there will be three new hardware partners announced for Windows Phone today. And they say the whole upcoming Wave 2 line-up will sport front-facing webcams which was expected even more after the Skype deal.
If this turns out to be true, our votes go for Nokia and Acer, leaving one spot empty. Could it be Sony Ericsson or Asus? Could it be one of the Chinese manufacturers ZTE or Huawei? Will Motorola embrace Windows Phone 7? Let us know of your three votes in the comments below!
On a side note, we told you about rumors of Microsoft splitting Zune into three. Rumor has it “Zune Pass will slowly be merged with Xbox Live Gold, adding more 3rd-party content to the subscription (like ESPN)”. We’ve already heard of new content offered by Netflix, Last.fm and Hulu, now ESPN. Who else might be on board?
Again, these are rumors — as usual before a highly anticipated event like the one that’s coming — and it could go either way. Make sure to follow us today for our coverage of the Microsoft event.
