Back in the days of Windows Mobile, Huawei tried its hand at smartphones for Microsoft’s platform, but the company has so far been absent from the Windows Phone scene. While Huawei has expressed interest towards branching-out into that market, we haven’t heard anything about just what it might be up to. There’s still plenty we’d like to find out, but some of the first rumors have arrived that hope to shed some light on Huawei’s Windows Phone plans.
Huawei may have assembled a team consisting of 70-some engineers, which, according to this claim, are dedicated to Windows Phone work. The company’s first effort for the platform would supposedly be a WP8 Apollo device, not that that’s surprising given how close we’re getting to the system’s expected release. As for the smartphone’s hardware, all we hear is that Huawei is looking into using a screen that’s at least four inches, and that the target price for the model could be what works out to the low $300s.
Up a similar alley, Huawei is also supposed to be working on a Windows 8 tablet, but there’s even less information available on that one; the only detail mentioned is the presence of an LTE modem. There’s no word yet on just when either model may be ready for release.
