Mango’s a done deal, phone manufacturers are well on their ways to having updates certified by carriers, and if all goes to plan, we might be seeing official Mango updates start going out to users within the next several weeks. If patience isn’t your strong suit, though, a new leak offers Samsung Omnia 7 owners to check out Mango on their phones just a little bit early with device-specific improvements.
Now, this isn’t the final, official Mango update, but instead an earlier release candidate. The engineering test ROM was prepared for T-Mobile Germany, and includes apps specific to that carrier. If all this talk of pre-release engineering builds has you nervous, you might want to sit on the sidelines for this one and just wait for a final release.
What are some of the things Omnia 7 owners who have installed the ROM have noticed? Sensor performance seems enhanced, so as a result the phone is more responsive to your movements. Camera operation appears to have gotten some attention as well, with touch-to-focus now deployed and better white balance correction.
An update to the phone’s radio results in what is reported feeling like faster data connections, though we haven’t seen any test figures to confirm. The eagerly-awaited ability to connect to hidden WiFi networks is also now in place.
If you feel up to giving the release a spin, the ROM and flashing tools are accessible through the source link below.
