This week’s “Must Have Game” for Xbox LIVE on Windows Phone is Bullet Asylum. It comes out February 8th for $2.99 in the Windows Phone Marketplace, so be sure to check it out then. Of course a free trial will be available, but in the meantime, check out our video preview below. The game’s graphic style is similar to that of “Our Manic Game” and “Orbital”… all of the elements seem to be made of colored light beams. It’s a very futuristic Tron-like effect. The game also has a great soundtrack and if you go into the sound options, the three buttons at the bottom will actually install 3 very cool Bullet Asylum themed ring tones to your phone.
The games controls are also very flexible and offer a number of options. You can choose the default control where all of your guns shoot in the direction of where your finger or fingers are touching. You can use two fingers at a time to aim your guns, but if you swipe three fingers across the screen you’ll use a power-up that will clear the screen of all enemies. Another control option is to use two virtual joysticks in the corners to control where the guns aim. The advantage to this control mode is that you’re not covering up your targets or a significant portion of your screen with your fingers.
You’ve also got three game playing modes. The Arcade mode goes through “Waves” of enemies and you have to beat a large “boss” enemy after every 5 waves. The Survival mode just pours on the enemies for as long as you can hold out. Architect mode lets you use your credits to build guns and weapons along the bottom and fight enemies your own way. Overall the game is a lot of fun though I think some might find it a little too easy.
As I mentioned, the game will be available on Wednesday, but you can also download a Windows 7 Bullet Asylum Theme right now in order to get some cool graphics and sound effects on your desktop computer.
