We’ve been hearing rumors of an international version of Nokia’s Lumia 900 for weeks, which would supposedly arrive as the Lumia 910. While the assumption thus far has been that the 910 would be largely identical to the 900, we have heard claims that Nokia would be giving the 910 a little boost to its imagery capabilities, outfitting the phone with a twelve-megapixel sensor instead of the eight-megapixel component the 900 will receive. Unfortunately, it looks that change won’t end up happening, at least according to Nokia’s own Damian Dinning.
With a job that focuses on the camera performance of Nokia’s hardware, Dinning’s certainly the man to go to with questions about the sensors on the 900 and the 910. On Twitter early this morning, Dinning responded to some questions about the 900. Though there was some confusion early on, at this point the 900′s camera specs seemed certain; despite this, one Twitter user went to Dinning with questions about just that feature. In his answer, Dinning confirmed the 900′s eight-megapixel component (actually 8.7), but his phrasing has us thinking the 910 shares the same sensor.
Dinning’s tweet claims that there’s no such thing as a twelve-megapixel version of the 900. From what we’ve been hearing about the 910, that’s exactly how we’d describe the handset. If that’s the intent Dinning was going for, it seems that the 900 may be more similar to the 910 than we previously estimated; at this rate, might the only adjustment be to the phone’s radio?
