Nokia’s launch of the Lumia 800 has been largely successful, even if the phone itself may have arrived to market with a few issues in need of attention. Nokia’s been on top of getting updates out to the phone, already delivering a series of patches aimed at improving battery performance, and with more on the way targeting camera and audio issues. Lest you think the 800 is getting an unfair share of the company’s attention, today we’re seeing reports of a problem with its cousin the Lumia 710, along with signs of a Nokia response.
Nokia’s support forums are full of dozens of reports, going back weeks, from Lumia 710 owners who have run into an issue trying to end calls. When done talking to someone, they’ll go to hang up, only to find that the end call button is being unresponsive. Some user mention the phone locking up after repeatedly attempting to hang up.
A Nokia employee recently posted to the thread, claiming that the company has been working on a fix for this issue, and it should be able to deliver it shortly; he stopped short of providing any direct speculation as to a release date. From the way the employee describes Nokia’s analysis of the issue, the signal to disconnect the call is being properly received by the phone’s radio, and the problem is just with the on-screen depiction of the event. If that’s in fact the case, we have high hopes for this forthcoming update successfully resolving the problem.
