There’s some good news for Nokia developers who use Ovi Maps that was recently posted in the Nokia Developer Forums. It sounds like the APIs used to interface with Nokia Ovi Maps will be supported on Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. Some code changes may be required, but still this should make it easy for developers to port their Ovi Maps dependent applications to Windows Phone. Also in the Nokia Developer Forum, we hear that Nokia’s Ovi Maps will be integrated with Bing. So it would seem that the mapping technology and API’s to integrate with it would be coming to all Windows Phone’s as part of the Mango update. That way Nokia developers hoping to interface with the Ovi Maps API’s won’t have to target only Nokia branded Windows Phones. Hopefully we’ll see continued seamless integration as has been a primary focus of Windows Phone.
