We started-off the week by learning of the official AT&T launch plans for the Nokia Lumia 900. That included news of the phone’s April 8 arrival and the opportunity to get your pre-order in starting today, March 30. For those of you who were really impatient, we saw the opportunity to get in an early pre-order with Microsoft a few days ago. If you were patient, though, now that pre-orders for the phone have gone widespread, we’re already seeing the first big discount for the already-cheap Lumia 900, letting you grab one for half price.

In order to secure a Lumia 900 for just about $50 on-contract, you’ll want to place your pre-order through Walmart. The company’s website has both the black and cyan models available to pre-order as of today for half of what AT&T would charge you for the handset.

Granted, it’s only $50 off, but half-price is half-price. If you had been on the fence about the Lumia 900, but were really attracted to the unusually low launch price, consider this another sign.

With any luck, Walmart might have a similar deal going for the white Lumia 900 when it’s finally time for that option to arrive late next month.

Update: AT&T also has a nice deal, making things free-on-contract, but it’s only for new customers.
