More than once, we’ve heard rumors claiming that Nokia’s Lumia 800 would be gracing AT&T’s LTE network someday in the near future; the first whispers of this arrangement arrived in early November, and more recently we’ve heard that testing of an LTE-enabled 800 is underway at both AT&T and Verizon. So far, though, this news has relied heavily on the contributions of unnamed sources who haven’t been providing much in the way of corroboration. Now, though, it looks like Nokia has done the work for us, and the latest 800 software reveals hints of the smartphone’s future on both CDMA networks and AT&T’s LTE.

The latest ROM updates for the Lumia 800 include these revelatory findings in the phone’s diagnostic app. First off, there’s an LTE transmission test, but that doesn’t speak to the the 800′s future on any one particular carrier. That clue is found in a separate LTE configuration screen, apparently to lock the phone’s radio for use on one particular LTE band. There’s no trace of Verizon’s band 13 here, but instead only bands 4 and 17, used by AT&T.

While it doesn’t specifically suggest Verizon as a carrier, another diagnostic screen shows the ability to send MMS messages over a CDMA network. Based on those earlier rumors about Verizon’s interest in the phone, however, we might be able to look at this find as at least supporting that idea.
