Despite some concerns that UK sales of Nokia’s Lumia 800 wouldn’t meet expectations, the Windows Phone handset’s launch has been going over swimmingly. Nokia’s not about to rest on its laurels, though, and is planning to drum-up interest in the smartphone with the help of what sounds like it’s going to be quite the epic audio/visual event.
After dark on this coming Monday, November 28, Nokia will flip the switch on what it’s calling Nokia Lumia Live. The company is basically taking a skyscraper and turning it into one giant visual effect; that means taking control of the building’s lighting and flooding it with powerful projectors, ready to transform Millbank Tower into an animated work of art.
Lights alone may be pretty, but to make the experience complete, Nokia’s recruited Canadian DJ deadmau5, where he’ll be playing live, reportedly from the building’s rooftop. If you’d like to catch the show but won’t be in the greater London area next week, Nokia’s going to be streaming the whole trippy shebang live on YouTube.
