Yesterday’s big RUMOR came from Eldar Murtazin who started an avalanche by claiming that Nokia and Microsoft are going to sit down and discuss Redmond’s taking over Espoo’s mobile unit.
Mark Squires, Nokia’s UK Comms Director, was quick to deny the rumors in many of his tweets in response to follower inquiries. One of them states: “We typically don’t comment on rumors. But we have to say that Eldar’s rumors are getting obviously less accurate with every passing moment”.
Nokia recently gave up on the Ovi branding for its services and renamed them to Nokia services while according to other reports, Nokia’s Navteq Maps will be powering Microsoft’s Bing Maps service. Microsoft on the other hand acquired Skype for $8.5 billion in cash and another merger rumor seemed appropriate to follow — even though debunked quickly by the Finnish company itself. Whether the rumor is completely inaccurate or the denial is just politics is not known but time will tell.
