Some of HTC’s Windows Phone 7 devices got their taste of Microsoft’s NoDo update a little ahead of schedule, as we saw ROMs leak for the HD7, Mozart, and Trophy earlier this month. Now the GSM-enabled version of the HTC 7 Pro is joining their ranks, with a NoDo ROM of its own.
Popping up like the others over at the XDA-Developers forum, this ROM appears to install just the same. That means that in order to complete the flash you’ll need to take advantage of a “gold card”, a specially configured microSD card that will allow your HTC handset to accept system updates that don’t match the stored carrier ID.
You’re hopefully familiar with what NoDo has to offer by now, with cut-and-paste support at the forefront, assorted tweaks and fixes to improve system performance, and a new lock-down on homebrew development with the removal of the ChevronWP7 exploit.
If hacking together a microSD gold card image doesn’t sound like a game you’d like to play, just sit tight, as NoDo should be coming out from official channels in just a matter of days. For US users who pick up Sprint’s CDMA version of the 7 Pro, going as the HTC Arrive, your phone will come with NoDo already installed.
