Brandon Watson, Director of Developer Relations with Microsoft, has joined PPCGeeks’ podcast to bring the news of updated Windows Phone 7 Developer Tools being released sometime today, Friday, February 4, 2011.
While the last update for the Tools was back in October, the upcoming version will bring an update OS image for the emulator which will indeed reflect the update that will hit devices soon. Feature-wise, the updated Developer Tools will bring Copy and Paste functionality for developers for free — with mention to the fact that already existing applications built with prior versions of the Tools will automatically benefit from the Copy and Paste feature. There are also performance improvements which are meant to further improve the experience.
On a side note, Brandon Watson said that CDMA will be available sometime before the end of the first half of the year with compatibility being added to the upcoming OS image. The Developer Tools have not yet been released but expect them to be available any time today.
