Microsoft has released a new Windows Phone 7 app called MSN Video. It looks and works exactly the same as MSN Movies except instead of movie trailers and showtime information, you get videos and clips from special events, MSN original programming, programming by 40+ first level providers and many other sources. The content is similar to what you might find at Bing Videos. You’ve got some settings for video display quality, a whole slew of categories to browse through, as well as a search button. I was actually very impressed with the search function. Typing in “Angelina Jolie” returns video results from MSN Movies, NBC News, Sony Pictures, FilmFan, Paramount, Access Hollywood, Fox, MSNBC, TODAY, etc. The app also shows up in the Music & Videos Hub Marquee, which is pretty nice.
If you haven’t tried this yet, at first it looks like nothing special, but I highly recommend you try that search button. To download, search the Windows Phone Marketplace for “MSN Video”
