We were thoroughly impressed with Dell’s first Windows Phone 7 device, in fact, we rated it a 4.5/5 in our review of the Venue Pro. It was fast, had an extremely high level of build quality, and it packed a fantastic slide-down keyboard that made text entry a breeze.
A recent tweet from a BBC reporter reveals that Dell has plans for more Windows Phone 7 handsets, thanks to the huge demand they’ve seen for the Venue Pro: Windows Phone 7: Michael Dell tells me demand for these phones is higher than Dell can supply, but guards “we don’t make *that* many”. Michael Dell, btw, was carrying two Dell phones, 1 Windows Ph7, 1 Android; said Dell would launch several new WinPh7 models
We’re pretty sure that the Venue Pro was somewhat of an experiment for Dell (or, this can be said about any OEM that launched a Windows Phone 7 device), and we’re glad to see that successful sales figures will encourage the company to make more handsets running Microsoft’s new operating system.
