Earlier today, we looked at an annoying process that Windows Phone 7 developers would have to put their phones through, had they been running Mango beta releases. With the official updates on the way, it looked like they’d all have to rewind back to NoDo before their handsets could continue with future updates like normal. Luckily, Microsoft’s Brandon Watson has stepped up to dispel those rumors, announcing that developers will be able to update to the final Mango RTM without needing to backtrack at all.
This news only really applies to official WP7 developers, so if you were running a leaked ROM the path ahead of you may not be quite so easy. Devs who want to make sure they can receive the update will simply need to make sure they keep their installations of Zune current, and the software should install the latest update as soon as it’s released. Nice, Microsoft; we bet that just helped you avoid having a bunch of grumpy devs on your case.
