When Microsoft announced its upcoming line of Must-Have Games for Windows Phone 7, the plan was to start releasing the titles starting in early April. That mark has come and gone, leaving WP7 users wondering when they could hope to expect the release of these big-name games. Microsoft has finally published an updated timeline for the releases, with the first going live on May 25, continuing through the release of Angry Birds on June 29.
While Angry Birds may be the most anticipated title from the group, there are plenty of other stands-outs. Hydro Thunder Go, an arcade-style boat racer, kicks things off on May 25, followed by the lighthearted platformer Doodle Jump on June 1. A week later, on June 8, Microsoft will release tower-defender geoDefense, and Sega has Sonic the Hedgehog 4 on-tap for June 15.
Gamers will get another tower-defense title on June 22, when PopCap start selling Plants vs. Zombies (which is also on its way to Android smartphones at the end of May). Finally, Rovio wraps things up with Angry Birds on June 29; there’s been no word yet of when Windows Phone 7 gamers might expect Seasons or Rio to arrive.
This all looks like a great, fun way to kick off summer, but why stop here, Microsoft? Six weeks of hit games is good, but it just whets our appetite for more high-profile titles. Keep ‘em coming!
