You may have heard of the recent new build of Windows Phone 7.5 that’s started showing up on some devices. This update brings a lot of bug fixes including a fix to the SMS bug where a specially formatted text message can make your entire messaging app inoperable requiring a hard reset. There’s also a fix to the bug where an app that has a background process updating may cause the keyboard to disappear while you’re typing, which can be pretty annoying if you have a lot of frequently updating background programs. There’s also a fix to the issue where your location information may be shared before you press the cancel button denying permission to access location data.
If you’re really dying for these fixes and simply must have the latest build of Windows Phone, Mobility Digest has put together a download package with instructions for using a cabsender application that will install the updates on your phone. DISCLAIMER: Using this tool will likely void your warranty and can potentially brick your phone, so proceed at your own risk. If you want to stay on the safe side, just wait until the update comes to your phone through the normal Zune interface.
