After first hearing LG’s model e906 mentioned earlier this summer, we got a chance to see a few snapshots taken of the phone in the wild, appearing to be an Optimus 7 refresh, and identifying itself with badging from German fashion house Jil Sander. We’ve now received a full spec sheet for the handset, confirming mostly-unchanged Optimus 7 hardware.
Like the Optimus 7 (e900), the Jil Sander phone has a 3.8-inch WVGA display and a 5-megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video. Interestingly, the phone’s case dimensions make it a smidge larger than the Optimus 7, yet LG has managed to make the handset nearly 15 grams lighter. It’s not clear just what form the designer’s software will take, but look for exclusive Jil Sander content, including fashion news and previews of upcoming collections.
The specs confirm the frequency support we saw earlier, capable of HSDPA 7.2 on the 900, 1900, and 2100MHz bands obviously not intended for a release in the US. Of course, now that Mango’s here, the e906 will arrive with that latest WP7 revision installed.
What we don’t know yet are the details of the phone’s release, but it’s likely that the smartphone will fetch a premium price, if only because of the Jil Sander branding. From what we can see, the phone looks nearly ready-to-go, so don’t be surprised if you see sales start in the very near future.
