We started-off the week hearing about the forthcoming software update for the HTC Trophy on Verizon. According to the release notes Verizon had published in advance of the update’s distribution, it looked like Trophy owners were about to see their phones get the platform’s 8107 update, including the fix for the keyboard issues that had been plaguing the OS. At the time, we weren’t quite sure when Verizon would actually flip the switch and start getting the update into the hands of users; it now appears that moment has happened, and the update is now on its way out.

Beyond just 8107, this update includes the changes introduced in Windows Phone build 7740 and HTC-specific code. Considering how we were just talking about Verizon’s apparent ambivalence towards Windows Phone, seeing this update arrive is a breath of fresh air. That’s especially true when viewing the carrier in comparison with AT&T, which has said that it’s passing on 8107 and its subscribers will have to wait to see those fixes until a future update comes along.
