The HTC Surround was a wave-one Windows Phone launch device which made its way to AT&T in the U.S. as well as Telus in Canada. It featured a unique concept of sliding out to reveal not a keyboard but a Dolby Mobile speaker system. It appears now that the phone has reached its end-of-life.
Over at AT&T as well as Telus, the dedicated product page for the Windows Phone features some saddening labels. The American carrier webpage returns a “no longer available” message while searching for the phone while the Canadian one simply puts it as “discontinued”. It is possible that it was one of the worst selling among the Windows Phones and it is going to be replaced by a wave-two device (and let’s not forget that we’re yet to see the Nokia, ZTE and Acer phones).
