Jack Tong, vice-president for HTC Asia, declared that Asian language support for Windows Phone 7 — such as Chinese and other language editions — will not be available in the first half of 2011.
Windows Phone 7 currently supports English, German, Italian, French and Spanish languages but if your mother tongue is different, you’re stuck, at least for the moment, with one of the aforementioned. Tong did not give out any more details as per when HTC will ship other language enabled Windows Phone 7 handsets but for sure it’s not HTC but rather Microsoft that is responsible for the expansion. Nevertheless, HTC’s main targets are the English-speaking markets such as Singapore and Australia but we’re quite sure Asian support would bring a huge boost in sales for devices and the platform.
