Have you been running into problems lately downloading apps from the Windows Phone Marketplace? Some users have been running into an issue where, time and time again, downloads fail, reporting error “c101b001″. What could be causing it, and what can you do about it?
Sadly, we don’t have very definite answers to either of those questions, though there’s hope for the latter. One of the better theories going around was that this could be related to some temporary Marketplace maintenance. While that sounded plausible at first, the issue has been continuing for at least week in the case of some users, and up to a month for others.
One trick that some Windows Phone users have reported success with is simply deleting a single app, followed by resetting the phone. Something about updating its list of installed apps seems to be the trick to getting Windows Phone out of this rut and restore Marketplace access. While results sound promising, we haven’t heard if everyone is finding this trick useful.
We haven’t heard anything from Microsoft in regards to these problems.
